Google Maps has just introduced a new feature to help you find parking near your destination, making it easier to navigate to unfamiliar spots. With the latest update announced on Wednesday, Google Maps will now display information about your destination as you approach it, showing you where to park inside or nearby the building. This includes nearby parking lots, as well as details such as opening hours, Live View, and distance from your current location, making it convenient for choosing a parking spot.

This feature, called “destination guidance”, was first seen on Google-owned Waze in March, offering comprehensive information about parking lots including costs, accessibility, and availability of EV charging stations. Google has now rolled out this feature on Maps worldwide for both iOS and Android users, as well as on Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google Built-in platforms.

In addition to the new parking feature, Google has also enhanced tools for reporting incidents on the road, such as lane closures, police presence, and construction work. Users can now see larger icons for easier reporting, which can be confirmed by other drivers in the Maps app.

Furthermore, Waze users will also receive updates, including new camera types for reporting road information, a traffic events feature for notifications on congestion or closures, and upcoming navigation guidance even when the phone is locked, set to launch in autumn.
