Fortnite

has disabled the Peaceful Hips emote dance following the latest episode of Peacemaker airing on Thursday. The seemingly harmless choreography took on new significance after Peacemaker‘s recent revelations, prompting Epic Games to reconsider the collaboration.

“We’re disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we look into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab emote,” announced the official Fortnite status X account over the weekend. “Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks.”

It appears that the Peaceful Hips Fortnite dance may contain intentional references to highly offensive symbols, only becoming clear after Peacemaker‘s latest episode.

### Spoiler Alert for Peacemaker Fans

In the sixth episode of Peacemaker‘s second season, “Ignorance is Chris,” the story continues to follow the protagonist vigilante (John Cena) as he tries to start anew in an alternate dimension. However, a shocking revelation towards the end of the episode unveils a world where Nazi Germany emerged victorious in World War II, leading to a society dominated by white supremacists.

This twist was subtly hinted at in previous episodes, notably through the dance Peacemaker performs in the opening credits of the second season. In light of recent events, this move now appears to be a deliberate reference to the Nazi swastika.

Fortnite‘s Peaceful Hips emote was inspired by this dance, mirroring the same arm movement. While it may have been a clever nod for Peacemaker viewers, it takes on a different connotation when translated into a Fortnite dance available to players in the game. Many young players learn and imitate these dances in real life.

The Peaceful Hips emote was introduced to Fortnite earlier this month, offered for purchase in the Item Shop or as part of the Peacemaker Bundle. Currently, all Peacemaker items have been removed from the shop, except for the Peaceful Hips emote which can still be used by players who had already acquired it.
