Introduction of HDMI 2.2 Specification

HDMI 2.2, the latest HDMI specification, is scheduled to be unveiled in early January. The HDMI Forum, responsible for the development of HDMI specifications, announced that HDMI 2.2 will be introduced on Jan. 6 in Las Vegas, just before the commencement of CES.

Potential Features of HDMI 2.2

Although details are limited, the email mentioned that HDMI 2.2 specifications will encompass a broader range of higher resolutions and refresh rates. This advancement could potentially offer significant improvements over the current HDMI 2.1 standard introduced in 2017, which supports 48Gbps bandwidth, up to 10K resolution, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz at 4K.

Notably, the timing of the HDMI 2.2 announcement aligns with expected product launches from Nvidia and AMD, indicating a possible coordination with the new HDMI standard.
