Meta’s top executives may be in line for huge bonuses in the coming years, despite the company’s recent layoffs. CEO Mark Zuckerberg anticipates a challenging year ahead for Meta, but that hasn’t stopped the company from proposing a new bonus structure that could see certain executives receiving bonuses of up to 200 percent of their base salary. This is a significant increase from the previous 75 percent cap. However, Zuckerberg himself is not included in this new bonus plan.

The company recently reduced employee stock options by 10 percent as its market value rose. In a move to streamline efficiency, Meta announced layoffs affecting up to 4,000 workers across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. These cuts were part of an effort to prepare for what Zuckerberg described as an “intense year” for the tech giant. Despite these challenges, Meta has also increased its focus on generative AI technology.

In response to the layoffs, affected employees have taken to platforms like LinkedIn to share their experiences and challenge the company’s characterization of them as “low-performing.” Last year, during larger rounds of job cuts, Meta employees used platforms like TikTok to push back against the company’s efficiency measures.
