UltraHuman’s Lawsuit Against Oura Dismissed: What’s Next for the Tech Giants?
Legal Battle of the Smart Rings
After being sued by Oura, smart ring maker Ultrahuman is suing right back, alleging a similar violation. Ultrahuman filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Finland-based Oura in India’s Delhi High Court, claiming that Oura has copied its intellectual property without a license.
Response from Oura
Oura responded to the lawsuit, stating that Ultrahuman’s claims have no merit and are an attempt to distract from their defeat in the U.S. The International Trade Commission ruled in favor of Oura’s infringement claims, blocking Ultrahuman’s smart rings from the U.S. market.
Ultrahuman’s lawsuit against Oura focuses on a patent granted by the India Patent Office protecting the unique smart ring architecture of its Ring AIR smart ring. Ultrahuman alleges that Oura’s Ring 4 infringes on this patent and profits from it with a subscription-based service.
