The cast of ‘Severance’ discusses the filming experience of ‘Woe’s Hollow’ as akin to making a feature film
Challenges of Filming “Woe’s Hollow”
Severance‘s “Woe’s Hollow” episode presented new challenges for the cast and crew. The fourth episode of Season 2 follows Innies Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry) as they venture into the outside world for an Outdoor Retreat Team Building Occurrence. The snowy woods of Dieter Eagan National Forest provided a stark contrast to Lumon’s Severed Floor.
New Location, New Wardrobe
For “Woe’s Hollow,” the Innies traded in their office wear for long fur coats, matching hats, mountaineering boots, and crampons. Costume designer Sarah Edwards crafted outfits suitable for the extended hiking sequences in the snowy terrain, allowing the actors to embody their characters in a new environment.
Physical Demands and Rewards
Filming in the challenging outdoor setting required the cast to work quickly and adapt to the elements. Despite the heavy fur coats weighing around 30 pounds, the experience of constant hiking led to unexpected physical benefits. As Season 2 of Severance continues to unfold on Apple TV+, viewers can witness the characters navigate the complexities of their surroundings every Friday.
