“ChatGPT Search is live! Here’s how to make the most of it.”
OpenAI has finally launched its ChatGPT Search, a long-awaited feature that allows users to get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources. This feature is integrated within the existing ChatGPT interface, allowing users to access real-time search by clicking the web search icon or entering a prompt for ChatGPT to search the web for current results.
ChatGPT Search is seen as a competitive response to Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, offering users an alternative to traditional search engines cluttered with ads and low-quality content. With real-time search capabilities, ChatGPT now provides up-to-date information on weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps through media partnerships.
When using ChatGPT Search, users will receive conversational responses with a button directing them to a list of sources. Clicking on these sources will lead to a search engine format with headlines and links to each story.
Currently available to ChatGPT Plus, ChatGPT Team users, and SearchGPT pilot testers, ChatGPT Search will soon be accessible to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu users. OpenAI also plans to bring ChatGPT Search to Advanced Voice Mode and free users in the future.
